Why Brisbane houses need washing

Brisbane’s humidity and summer storms are perfect for mould, mildew and algae. It shows up first as grey or black patches on south-facing walls, under eaves and on patio ceilings, and it shortens the life of your paint. Add road dust, spider webs and rust runs from metal fixtures, and most houses need a wash every year or two.

Soft washing or pressure cleaning?

Most house exteriors shouldn’t be blasted with high pressure. Paint, render, timber weatherboards and older Queenslanders are cleaned with a soft wash: a cleaning solution applied at low pressure that kills mould at the root, then rinsed off. It cleans more thoroughly and lasts longer than pressure alone, without stripping paint or forcing water behind cladding.

We save higher pressure for the hard surfaces around the house, like concrete, pavers and brick, where it does the job best.
